Pakistan

Pakistan emerged as an independent state on August 14, 1947, after the division of India but the history of this area is as old as time itself. The excavations at Mohenjodaro and Harappa are proof enough of the advanced culture that thrived here some 4500 years ago.
Pakistan has a geographical layout that encompasses all of nature’s blessings. Along with the highest mountains of the world in the North, found in the Himalayan, Karakoram, and Hindukush mountain ranges; it also has its share of plains, widespread deserts, and finally many miles of uninterrupted coastline as one moves north to south.

In the Frontier and Balochistan, you see a tribal culture filled with brave fighters ever ready to defend their honor and land. moving south you experience Punjab, rich in the folk tradition, the people’s life deeply attached to the land which gives them food and life.
In Sindh again a chance is felt, Rural and urban exists in this province in complete harmony from fisherman to industrialists there is rich life for everyone.

Rawalpindi / Islamabad

Islamabad is the modern and well-planned capital of Pakistan. It provides a breathtaking view of the Margalla Hills as it is situated at their feet. The largest mosque in the world Faisal Masjid is also here. As Islamabad is new, Rawalpindi is old. It is Islamabad’s neighboring city, situated only 20 km away. Together they are known as twin cities. Rawalpindi is full of old buildings that have been standing strong for centuries.

When To Go:
October to March is the best time to visit Islamabad and Rawalpindi. It is 518m (1700ft) above sea level. The hottest months are May and June before the monsoon.

Sights:
Damn-e-Koh viewpoint, Lok Virsa, Shah Faisal Mosque, Islamic Research center, Parliament building, Shakar Parian.

Northern Areas

Gilgit

Gilgit is a scenic wonderland, an unspoiled paradise, where a few days are a deeply satisfying experience. Lofty peaks, above rich valleys and deep blue lakes, pose a challenge to even the more adventurous of hikers. A number of full-day tours are arranged from Gilgit to picturesque villages, scenic spots, and popular trekking sports.

When to go:
The best time to see Gilgit in its glory is from April to October. Summer is the time for trekkers and climbers. In June, July, and August the high mountain pastures are carpeted with flowers.

Sights:
Gilgiti Bazar, Kargah Buddha, Jutial Nullah, Nalter Valley.

Hunza

Hunza reveals itself as a fairy tale land of resplendent beauty. The Rakaposhi, Utar, Golden Peak, and Dean prams stand sentinel to the fields, neatly arranged in terraces down the mountainsides. Hunza is situated as such that it stands on one side of a river while on the other side is Nagar Valley. Even though most of the peaks are in Nagar, the view from Hunza’s capital Karimabad is the best. People come to Karimabad just for breathtaking panoramic views and trekkers are happy here for days on end.

When to go:
Hunza is 2400m above sea level and thus very cold in the winter. The best time to visit is from May To October.

Sights:
Hunza Bazar, Altit fort, Baltit Fort, Hoper Valley, Hoper Glacier, Kunjerab Pass, Kashgar.

Multan

Continuing in a south-westerly from Lahore one reaches Multan, a city that was only born a few hundred years after the Indus Valley Civilization died. Multan has a unique climate characterized by frequent rainstorms, thunder, and lightning, suffocating tropical heat and dust.
Here more tombs are to be found gathered together in one place than anywhere else in Pakistan, and the city is dominated by the towering brick and marble shrine of its eleventh-century.

Peshawar

As old as history itself, the city of Peshawar has always been mentioned as a place of some importance from olden days. It has the oldest living bazaars with an oriental touch in many ways. The museum of invaluable treasure of Gandhara sculprure andit represents teh most systematic exhibition of Gamdhara Art.

When To Go:
May to October

Sights:
Peshawar Museum, Khyber Bazar, Qissa Khuwani Bazar, Mohabat Khan Mosque, Dara Adam Khel, Balahisar Fort, Takhy-i-Bahi, Shahbaz Garhi, and the Khyber Pass. The Khyber Pass has for centuries severed as a gateway to Afghanistan and beyond.

Lahore

Lahore- the heart of Pakistan is situated on River Ravi. A populous city, Lahore has since the time of Mughal Emperor, Akbar the great, been the resort of people of all nations and a center of extensive commerce art, and learning. It is rightly regarded as the cultural, architectural, and artistic center of Pakistan.
To lay it offers a harmonious blend of ancient and contemporary architecture, but the main attraction of Lahore is its rich Mughal heritage. A number of Mughal monuments are spread throughout the city. The Mughal period is described as the most flourishing and rich in culture even though Lahore saw many different dynasties throughout the ages. One can spend more than one day looking at the Mughal monuments of historical importance.

When To Go:
October to March is the best time to visit Lahore. It is only 213m (698ft) above sea level and thus, very hot in the summer.

Sights:
Lahore fort, Badshahi Mosque, Wazir Khan Mosque, The Shalimar Garden, Jahangir’s tomb, the Lahore central museum.
